Ski Joring
A Reason to Visit: Crystal Carnival
Upcoming Events

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends,
The countdown is on! Just a couple of weeks left until the Crystal Carnival and
60th annual Ski Joring competition hit downtown Leadville on March 7-8. If you haven't seen ski joring before, it's high time you did! The snow continues to fall, making the skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling incredible. The Mineral Belt Trail has just received a new groomer, courtesy of a joint effort between Colorado Mountain College-Timberline Campus and Lake County, so the cross-country skiing is better than ever.
This is a great time to visit. Make sure you check the blog often to learn about upcoming events, deals and specials.
Everything that is Colorado is right here...shouldn't you be here, too?
SKI JORING: THE ULTIMATE EXTREME WINTER SPORT
Since 1949, spectators have been lining the streets in downtown Leadville to watch
horse-and-rider teams pulling skiers down snow-packed streets, over jumps, while they spear rings in timed competitions. This year is no exception as Leadville prepares for its 60th Ski Joring event on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8. This high-speed, high-altitude event draws competitors from all over the country, with as many as 64 teams competing in the Open Class. Kids will also have the chance give ski joring behind a snowmobile a try for just $5 on Saturday morning.
